Making Sense of the Sandbox Cutoff (August 27)

Every release cycle, sandbox routing catches a few teams off guard. Where your sandbox sits on August 27 at 6:00 PM PT determines its release version:

• Want to test Winter ’27 early? Ensure your sandbox is on a Preview instance. If it is currently on a non-preview pod, trigger a sandbox refresh before the cutoff to route it to a preview server.
• Need your sandbox to stay on Summer ’26? If you have an active project deployment that must match production exactly, keep it on a Non-Preview instance and avoid refreshing it during the preview window.
• Unsure which pod you’re on? Enter your sandbox Org ID at sandboxpreview.com or check your instance pod on status.salesforce.com to see its designated upgrade path.

Release Readiness: A Quick Checklist

• Test Core Flows and Custom Triggers: As soon as preview sandboxes update on August 28, run a regression sweep across business-critical Flow logic, integrations, and Apex triggers.
• Check the Auto-Enabled Changes: Filter the release notes on August 19 for features enabled for all users by default, especially UI tweaks or updated permission enforcement.
• Maintain Your Certifications: Salesforce requires one annual maintenance module per year across your active credentials, so grab the new release badge once it drops on Trailhead.
